Modernized Retail Project Management: Phase II

Description:

BDG Centroamerica’s client, working on a project reminiscent of Excel grids, aspired to integrate a feature for effectively copying and pasting multiple cells. We collaborated with BDG to bring this vision to life.

The Challenge:

BDG’s client wanted to elevate a project that mimics Excel grids. Their goal was to develop a function allowing for efficient copying and pasting of multiple cells. The challenge was to balance user-friendly operation while ensuring data consistency.

The Ideal Solution:

BDG’s client envisioned a straightforward and robust mechanism. The hope was for a seamless integration allowing users to effortlessly transfer data within the project and, if possible, from external platforms like Excel or Google Sheets.

Our Proposed Solution:

Given the intricate requirements, we suggested a specific approach to BDG: instead of catering to both rows and columns, the focus should be solely on rows for the copy-paste feature. This decision aimed to preserve data integrity and simplify the functionality.

Execution:

To achieve the goals set by BDG’s client, we meticulously deconstructed the grid. Treating each cell as a separate component granted us precise control. With this structure, we implemented the paste function, set to begin pasting values from the selected cell and its adjacent cells to the right.

Final Outcome:

The feature became an instant hit among the end-users of BDG’s client. They found significant value in it, especially considering its ability to facilitate easy data transfer from external platforms like Excel or Google Sheets. This enhancement not only simplified tasks but became a staple in the application’s daily operations.
